Subject: Got it! but... defacto? Posted on: Wed, 24 Aug 2005 21:54:57 +0000

Hi everyone!
I hope someone out there could help us with a very big problem:
First of all, my PR was granted recently. That's very good news
indeed. But due to the necessity of a very hasty lodgement (pass
mark change) and an absolutely stupid misunderstanding of the
requirements for a defacto parnter visa - we're now in the
situation that my g/f (defacto for more than 10 years) can't get
hers like we thought she could.
We weren't aware that the sponsor already has to be resident in
Oz! Also we thought it wasn't possible to include her
retrospectively. Holy s***!
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Is there any chance to
get a partner visa from outside of Australia (both German)? She's
still eligible for a WHV. Would it be possible for her to
accompany me on a WHV and apply for the spouse in Oz? Maybe Dimia
wouldn't like that? Btw. she's already mentioned in my
application, so I've never held back any information. As we would
like to go for a holiday soon and validate my PR, could it be a
risk for us, if she enters on a tourist visa?
A lot of questions, I know. But we are quite desperate about this
mess. Any advise is really appreciated!
Thank you very much in advance and good luck for all that are
still waiting!
