From my understanding,

The Visa you get for a holiday is valid for 1 year!

You can enter Australia and stay for up to 3 months on this Visa, and if
you wish to stay longer, you will have to leave Aus (oh NZ is 3 hours
away!), get your passport stamped in NZ (for example!) re enter Oz and
you get another 3 months!

Total of 4 entries of upto 3 months! - enough to see Oz all over
I'da thought!

We knew it was right after 3 days! ... :)

Not 100% on my facts, but IS how I see it!
