We are quite new to this so please forgive my ignorance!
We would like to move to NZ and are thinking about getting a job offer
and then obtaining a work permit/visa? We would like to eventually go
for permanent residence using the points system after two years when we
will be able to get the extra points for work experience in NZ.
My question is, obviously a work permit is temporary and if I got a job
offer it would (hopefully) be permanent.....how would we go on about
this?
My rough plan would be to a) get job offer, b) get work permit c) work
for two years then apply for PR. Alternatively, if I haven't got a job
offer "remotely" by about April next year we are planning to a) move
out there on visitor visa b) get job offer, c) get work permit and d)
after two years apply for PR!
Is this a feasible way of going about things? I have worked for three
years in IT support, although I don't hold any formal qualifications
(reason for not going straight for PR!!).
I really appreciate any help you can offer as it's all a bit
overwhelming!
