You don't mention the type of visa you are going to apply for, so I'll
assume that it's a skilled sponsored visa class (138/139). I believe
that you need to wait until you have the letter from your CO before
you have any dealings with CentreLink, and then it's your assurer who
deals with CentreLink, not you directly. CentreLink will want to
interview and see tax records for your assurer prior to asking for the
bond to be lodged.
Now, if you're applying for some other type of visa then I might be
wrong, but I doubt you can do the AOS ahead of time though in any case.
