Mine was also checked, I think it's random. Here's a comment from George
Lombard on what of the threads here :
"Obviously they do some random checking, and some checking where
documents are suspicious (eg same text, same typeface, super convenient
dates, clearly inaccurate letterheads, etc, etc) and also there's
apparently close to universal checking for some countries of origin, eg
Eastern Europe. However I don't think you'll be able to put together
more of a picture than that. If you've warned your referees then that's
all you'd need to do, hopefully..."
