As far as I understand it:

- when you leave the UK permanently you normally get a *full* years tax
allowance for the last year (6 April to 5 April). How useful this is
depends on when in the tax year you leave and whether you have ongoing
UK income.

- in Australia the AUD6000 tax allowance is prorated depending on when
you arrive in the tax year (1 July to 30 June). However you get a
*full* benefit of the lower rate tax bands.
