This might be incorrect advice. What is true is that you will only get
'extra time' put on your new passport if the old one has less than nine
months' validity left. Therefore, for most people it makes sense to
wait for this benchmark. However, I don't *think* that there's any
limit, by law or regulation, as to when you can apply for and be issued
with a new passport.
