Shaun,
why not try emailing your CO with Tony's suggestion first, before you go
down that route and see what the CO says? Worst they can say is "no".
And then if they do say no, you just completely withdraw your
application, and wait another few weeks, get your documentation in order
and start again. Yes, it would cost you money, but it is better than an
outright rejection, or in my books going into a pool. I'd rather pay the
extra and get an outright "yes".
