My hubby started work as an apprentice mechanical engineer. Worked at
this for 2 years after finishing apprenticeship then made redundant. He
then retrained in Telecoms which he did for 9 years until 3 years ago
when he (sort of) retrained again to work on the railways as a fitter.
He had done fitting during his apprenticeship so we applied to the TRA
as a fitter.
We phoned the tra before submitting our application and they told us not
to send anything in to do with telecoms just send in the references and
exam certs that were relevant to the fitters job. This we did and we got
through as a fitter.
I think maybe of you decide on one occupation it will make it a little
easier for you and the TRA, unless you can tie the two together somehow.
