US State/local criminal clearence Posted on: Mon, 20 Mar 2006 20:57:32 +0000

First of all I would like to thank everyone who replied to my post a
week ago concerning my medical exam, it was very helpful!

No I have a new problem, I have lived in the U.S. for more than 12
months on a student visa and therefore requested a FBI clearence.
According to the 47p form residents of the U.S. also need to request a
state/local criminal clearence. When I read the instructions a couple of
weeks ago I thought "residents" were permanent residents or citizens. I
have now done some searching on BE and found out that a lot of people
seems to interpret the instructions in the way that everyone for the
moment living in the U.S. for a longer period of cumulative 12 months
are residents and have to request state/local clearence. I have never
looked upon myself as a resident of the U.S. but maybe DIMA think I am.

Hints anyone?

Have a good day!
Johan
