If you have a genuine marriage to an Australian citizen then you can
normally "get in." There is no English requirement.

It sounds like you have been very badly advised regarding visas (you
should have obtained a spouse visa at the start), but if you wanted to
resolve the situation offshore then it probably wouldn't take too long.
Why not get some professional advice on the options?
