What it means is that the visa is valid for travel to and from
Australia for 5 years, after that date you need to either be an
Australian Citizen or hold a Residents Return Visa to be able to get
entry back into the country.

However, you are legally allowed to remain in Australia forever.

Hope that clears it up a bit for you.
