Hi Gaz, thats what I did in 2002. Although before my visit we didnt plan
it. But got married while I was on an ETA visa and applied for Spouse
visa. I was approved within 2 months of my application and could work.
So it can be done but you will need to prove a real history of your
prior relationship.

One word of warning however. With myself the relationship didnt work out
and 2 years down the line we parted ways. I decided to leave the country
and apply for permanent residency myself. However if things do break
down between you guys before you become a PR your really left inbetween
a rock and a hard place! Sorry to sound so pessemistic but I've had the
experience!

Anyway yes you can do it that way. At least I have. Good luck and I hope

Oh one other thing if you do decide to do this at least get a police
check before you leave the UK. I didnt as (as mentioned previously) we
didnt plan it and I had some serious hasstle getting one while in
australia!
