I'd say there are some people who go through sponsored and regret it
because they don't like area/employer etc. The simple fact is through
your current choice is that you can do/go anywhere/any time. With us we
need to work for employer for 2 yrs at least - all being well. I hope
we work for them a lot longer than that in all honesty but we're in very
unique working situation, work is life, family, home etc.
I can't say whether you can change visa, you might start at the
beginning all over again, with extra costs, or whether evidence of work
will help speed up process.
Good luck - I know that having a job to go to is certainly way more
appealing than going without!
