A couple of my OH's previous employers where no longer trading and had
no way of contacting any of the company directors/managers, as they
werent the most recent employment our agent advised us that stat
dec/statements where fine for them. I believe it would have been a
little more tricky if it had been one of his employers in the last
four years.

Again - your agent is there for you, explain difficulties and ask them
for alternative ways of evidencing.
