Subject: Medicare for a prospective marriage visa holder (hopefully!) Posted on: Fri, 10 Nov 2006 19:57:01 +0000

Ok so assuming i get my prospective marraige visa granted.......what is
all this talk about medicare?
Is this the equivalant of the NHS in the uk?
Or does it mean that if i don't have it then it'll cost tons to be
treated if something happens to me whilst im in Oz (like in the USA if
you dont have health insurance)?
I'm very confused! Could someone explain what it is and what rights i'll
have when i get to Oz please? Because i dont wanna get there and then
need medical treatment (you know it would happen to me!!) and it cost me
$'s i don't have!!
I'm an american citizen with the right to abode for the UK (meaning i
can live and work here indefinately and have a national insurance number
etc) if that helps or means anything!

Sorry i know i've been posting a lot lately but i have 'visa panic
fever'! This immigration is the most important thing in my world - i
just want it to all be ok!! I'm panicking about it not being granted coz
we dont have enough money and then if it is granted - not being able to
get work, health stuff, etc - i'm going mad!
(God i'm crying now!!) :(
