Would you really want to stay a citizen of a country that didn't
tolerate you holding citizenship anywhere else?

There is a difference between losing citizenship automatically and going
to the Embassy to formally sign it away. Many Canadian born people
would likely let their Canadian citizenship drop automatically - with
however much regret - while at the same time never being willing to sign
it away voluntarily.
