Regarding 4 year work experience for ACS assessment Posted on: Sun, 20 Apr 2008 17:26:38 +0000 (UTC)

I am going to apply under subclass 175 Skilled Independent Visa. But
before that I am having to take an skills assessment from ACS
(Australian Computer Society).

To get a positive skills assessment from ACS I need to show 4 years of
IT experience. Now I am a bit confused whether these 4 years have to
be *after* my graduation (BS) from university.

I have about 4.5 years of professional full-time experience, but 3.5
years if counted *after* the completion of my graduation, as I started
working full-time 1 year before graduating (since my graduation was a
distance learning program, working full time while being a student was
not an issue). The FAQ section at ACS [http://www.acs.org.au/index.cfm?
action=show&conID=skillfaq#experience Q. 33] however states full-time
experience gained prior to any qualification would be taken into
consideration.

Do you think I meet the 4 year requirement? (I cannot wait another 0.5
years to complete my 4 years *after* graduation.)

TIA.
