The work reference check can be done in different ways. It can be done
by the case officer by simply telephone/fax/email. It can also be
assigned to the Australian overseas post (embassy or high commission).
How and when the overseas post does the check varies from country to
country depending on many factors like (a) knowledge of the country and
its culture, the company etc. (b) the type of checks to be done (a)
number of work reference checks waiting in the queue etc. But whoever
does it in whatever way they will try to verify that everything
mentioned in the work reference letter - employment dates, job
responsibility and duties etc.
