The stories your friend told you are heresay. High risk countries are
only graded so for student and tourist visas. You are intending to
apply for a permanent visa. The only risk there is that you go back to
your home country...

This means that you should still apply as you have skills that are
needed and it won't happen overnight but if you apply correctly you
will get a visa and a bright new future.
