I think there is a racist touch to Andrews comment on Indians not
being able to score in IELTS. Some kind of colonial hangover i think
Mr. Miller.
I studied in English all thru and never scored top grades in English in
India yet I scored band 9 on both Speaking and Writing.I think IELTS is
not exactly a great exam to measure English skills. You got to remember
statistics show that Indians have always scored better in exams Like
TOEFL/GRE/GMAT/IELTS. Indians are the also the largest community to pass
microsoft exams outside the US.Thats why even the Americans aren't
ignoring the Indians. They realise the huge potential of that community.
India is the only third world country with the highest turnover in
Software and IT exports, most of which are in English. 25 % of developers
in Microsoft (The office suite you use widely) are Indians for you
information.
If you thought Indians couldn't speak english you would be surprised to
know that most companies in US and UK are outsourcing the call centre
jobs to Indians in India,so next time you think you called a service
company in your country you may actually be speaking to an Indian.
Obviously if you couldn't bear the success of a third world nation like
India you end up criticizing them.
