Just to add a bit to Andrew's note: the FBI phone number in West
Virginia is (202) 324-3000. They are very efficient and will send the
application package (with fingerprint cards) out to you right away.
Also, find out if you will also require a state clearance (on top of
the FBI clearance). Each visa post has different requirements on
this. My fiance will be applying through the Embassy in Vienna and
was told he needed a clearance from California State as well. It
wasn't too difficult--the California Department of Justice were just
as efficient and helpful as the FBI.
