Hello,

I do not know how useful or useless affidavits are, but getting
replacement birth certificates for indian citizens are among the easiest things.
If in India, it takes less than week's worth of time, usually about a day, and
if in Canada, the Indian Embassy in Ottawa takes 2 hours to validate the
passport and issue a replacement birth certificate ... Unlike U.S. immigration
where the birth certificates are required to be issued *at* the place of
birth, Canadian immigration happily accepts birth certificates issued from
other places, including Ottawa ...

I do not see why anyone would not want to get another B.C. but
instead opt to get affidavits ...

My two cents ...
