Myself and college friends are thinking of going to Canada this summer
on the equivolent of a J1 visa (what is it called in Canada?).
One of my friends has a conviction for a minor drug offense. Will this
affect his visa application?
For this kind of visa is a backround check
carried out before the visa is issued? Is everyone checked?
Just out of interest, if a check is done, how do they do it? (i.e. does
the embassy contact the local police, or does the embassy have a
database itself).
Thanks
James
