Subject: Landing in a week and need advise, please. Posted on: Mon, 2 Feb 2004 16:21:30 +0000 (UTC)

Hi all,

I'm moving from NY, and since I don't want to import our cars, I
thought to rent a car and go via Buffalo. Friday I went to Enterprise
to make reservation for a car and told them that I'm going to Canada
and want to drop car off somewhere in Toronto. Guy from Enterprise
told me that there're problems at US/Canada border after 9/11 and
Canadian border patrol often confiscates rental cars coming from US.
He apologized and said that he can't rent me a car. While I think that
whatever he said is a total nonsense, I didn't go to another car
rental, but changed my plan.

We (my wife, myself and 2 kids) want to take a plane to Buffalo, cross
the bridge by feet, see Immigration and fill all required papers, and
when on Canadian side, take a rental car and go to Toronto. Is this
possible to land this way, by crossing bridge on our own? We are not
going to carry any baggage. I just want to make sure I didn't overlook
something. I would really appreciate any comments.

Thanks,
Mike
