You are kidding right?! That people come to Canada, get their passports
and move south to the States to avoid becoming modern day slaves of the
state? I wonder how they do down in the States then? Certainly there are
many Mexicans who would laugh at what you are saying about Canada being
worse than the US for treating 'foreigners' badly. This happens
everywhere! You cannot expect to go to a new country and walk into the
best jobs! And why should the US be exempt from having qualifications
checked if this is the process?

I also find it an affront to use terms
like 'slavery' so loosely when in fact the entire notion of slavery
(pioneered by the US) is about lack of choice. Many of the people you
are talking about who do the menial jobs end up in better conditions
than many resident Canadians as they are willing to work so hard in
their new country. It is patronising to them and their right to exercise
choice of movement to attribute the title of 'slaves' to them.

Maybe
it is the arrogance of some British and American 'expats' that can get
in the way of their success in their new country. Having lived in 'super
powers', perhaps they feel that they have a legitimate right to walk
into any country of the world and take the most prestigious jobs without
having to work their way up in the same way that residents of that
country do.

Anyway, Flyer, what is your job in Canada? What job would
you be willing to take if it meant you could start your life in another
country that you thought might offer better living conditions or that
you just fancied checking out?

Somehow I doubt you've just finished
the night shift cleaning the toilets at Toronto airport...
