Very simple break down:

Right: Progressive Conservative - Pay less taxes, very little emphasis
on social programs.

Left: Pay more taxes, more emphasis on social programs. (Welfare,
healthcare etc...)

Far left: NDP - supports labour unions...very socialist...lots of
taxes...

This is a very simple breakdown. The internet will provide you with
good info.
I am liberal but I am still a student. I haven't paid enough taxes to
complain and become conservative. I have been warned that happends as
you get older.
