Most middle class neighbourhoods are racially mixed. Of course there are
areas where certain ethnicities congregate. In the Toronto area, Chinese
are mainly in Markham, Richmond Hill, and Scarborough, Italians in
Vaghuan, etc. but (I think) no one will make you feel uncomfortable if
you moved in. Upper class and "exclusive" neighbourhoods are still
predominately white but no one is going to lynch you if you moved in. A
few of my friends and I live in such neighbourhoods - we never had any
problems with our neighbours. My friends and I are Chinese and not white.
Actually in these neighbourhoods it's really quiet - you never see any of
your neighbours...

I don't think it's possible to find a nice home for 75,000CDN in a major
city like Toronto or Montreal. 75,000 buys you a tiny vacant lot or a
triple Garage in Toronto - no joke, I just did a search on MLS.ca.

You're looking at least 200,000CDN for a detached home.

There are some "bad" neighbourhoods like Jane and Finch in Toronto, but
even Jane and Finch is not that unsafe. You can drive through Jane and
Finch with no hassles at night. The students from "bad" neighbourhoods do
attend decent highschools. Come to think of it, York University is
located right in the Jane and Finch area and it's a pretty good
university.
