Subject: Re: Approaching Canada seeking quality medical service for baby delivery. Posted on: Wed, 22 Dec 2004 10:35:56 EDT

Although I may not have made my point politely before (sorry about that),
your point here is exactly what drives my anger in Canada's management (or
lack thereof) of our health care system. People like Cindy Sherman have no
problem knocking and whining and complaining about a health system going
bust, but in the same breath Cindy does not see the abuse she puts upon it,
plus encourage others to do the same. Blame the Emergency room because
people who do not require immediate attention are taking up spots in the
waiting room.

My anger stems from the fact that we (as in Canadians) have literally
hundreds of thousands of senior citizens and persons with disabilities who
are either in poverty or living at the poverty line who don't even have the
money to pay for an ambulance should they need one (I realize not all
provinces charge for ambulance service, but most do) or cab/Accessa-Bus, yet
Canada can afford to 'risk' being stuck footing the bills for non-Canadians
should they decide not to pay once they've received services and returned
'home' [their country], or if they die after the care has been given, or if
they are using faked [or someone else's] Health Card [very common practice
between USA/Canada, and for family of new immigrants].

I'm not a senior nor a person with a disability, but I've seen ample proof
that they exist and live in conditions we as Canadians should be ashamed of
in every province across this great country. I've also seen ample proof of
the ripoffs taking place each day across this country called Canada. The USA
charges upfront (as services are provided)for non-Americans, and although
the American health care system is more cold hearted than I'd ever wish ours
to become, I think ours is too bleeding heart like, and should also initiate
a pay as you go service for Non-Canadians. If we don't stop the abuse soon
we will have private health care no two doubts about it.
