We are organizing a demonstration against a parental sponsorship
process freezing by the Ministry of Immigration. The demonstration will
held on Friday, March 11 at 11:00 am in front of Mr. Volpe, Minister of
Immigration and Citizenship, office at Bathurst and Lawrence, Toronto
(south west side).
As you probably know the the Mississauga office of the Ministry of
Immigration had stopped processing parental sponsorship application one
year ago, the quotas were cut from 22,500 in 2002 to 5,500 in 2005 and
as a result the total process can take 15 or more years versus 1-2
years it took 3 years ago. That means that many parents will die
without seeing their children and many grandchildren will never see
their grandparents.
Please try to come and to bring with you as many people as possible
including children and babies in strollers. The total time of the
demonstration is not more than 45 minutes. Police will provide
security. If you want to attend the demonstration please send e-mail
with number of person and names to sponsoryourparents@rogers.com. I
know that many people are working at this time, but please try to take
a couple of hours off - this is probably the only our chance to
change the situation. There will be many reporters including central
Canadian TV stations and newspapers.
