Hi,

The first child will become a citizen when the father becomes a
citizen. The second child will have to be sponsored and once that
child becomes a permanent resident, if one of the parents are citizens
they can apply for citizenship for that child (no need to wait the 3
years, children do not have to meet the residency requirement)

I day outside Canada means they slept outside Canada... so going out
and coming back in the same day does not count towards a day outside
Canada.
