There are few ways to be sponsored - as a spouse, common-law partner or
conjugal partner. The last one most likely won't apply in your case.
Common-law definition states that partners must be living together
(cohabiting) in conjugal relationship and have done so already for at least
12 months. See if you can meet that definition. If not then marriage is the
best option. You may be sponsored from abroad or from within Canada
(providing that you obtained admission without fraud, misrepresentation or
omission). You may be allowed to remain in Canada even if sponsored from
abroad. But no medical insurance until you meet residency requirements
(after becoming a PR) set by Province for new PR's.
