Hello,
My family applied for Canadian Citizenship in October 2004.
In October 2005, I and my wife went for the Citizenship test.
On the test the immigration officer asked us about our expired
passports. We had new passports in 2005, because the old have expired
and our country collects and destroies them, before issuing new
passports.
The immigration officer had the photocopies from the old passports
on file, but he wanted to see the originals, which we did not have.
We were allowed to take the test, but were sent Residence
Questionnaire.
I have completed the Residence Questionnaire and sent it back with bank
statements, T4 and T5 slips, itinerary forms for all absences
from Canada, a letter from my son's school, school reports for my son,
a letter from my wife's dentist and dental reports, notices of
assestment,
photocopies of our new passports, a note from my government about the
legal requirement regarding the old passports.
Even we had the required 1095 days residence in Canada before the
Citizenship application, it is difficult to prove my wife's residence,
because she takes care for the kids, while I work full time for the
government.
All bills and bank statements are on my name. She does not have any
income.
We are currently permanent residents and our daughter was born here -
Canadian citizen.
My question is, if we will be asked to meet with a citizenship judge
and how this passport issue will reflect on our application?
What is the average delay if we have to meet with the judge for
Toronto, Ontario?
Any suggestions or comments are very much appretiated. I will
certainly share the outcome of my case so everyone will benefit.
Thanks in advance!
Vlad
