I suspect there is truth in that.
Since, for U.K. residents care is free, hospitals are not
really set up to charge. U.S. Hospitals, on the other hand,
are very focussed on who is paying.
In Canada it is sort of midway, although the basic principle
in urgent situations is to provide treatment first and worry
about payment later.
