Despite living in the UK from birth & educated there etc. I was advised by my
lawyers to take the IELTs examination to prove my proficiency at writing,
reading, aural & oral in my mother tongue.

I can only suggest you look into that, even if you have taken the IELTs exams
in the past, the certificate is only valid for two years IIRC.
