Sponsoring spouse on still valid work permit after attaining permanent residency Posted on: Sun, 17 Jun 2007 22:46:59 +0000 (UTC)

I am about to receive my permanent residency and I have been working
in Canada for the last 1.5 years. I have a work permit which is valid
until September 2008. I am about to be married October this year and
I
want to sponsor my spouse, who lives in Colombia to come to Canada.
Besides sponsoring her for permanent residency, which means she will
have to wait in Colombia until she gets permanent residency, can I
sponsor her for a visa and work permit using my work permit (which
should be a lot faster)? When she is in Canada we could then apply
for
permanent residency. Please let me know whether this is possible.

Thank you for your time.

Regards,
Christoph
