Subject: Applying for spousal sponsorship to Quebec but confused Posted on: Wed, 4 Jul 2007 07:05:03 +0000 (UTC)

Hi all,

I have been going round in circles looking at CIC and Quebec web sites
which sometimes contradict each other. The Canadian High Commission
(London) never answer the phone. My Canadian wife is here with me in
England and we want to go back to Montreal.

I understand that we need to apply to CIC in Mississauga first but it
isn't clear what we should send. The doc check list (IMM 5491) refers
to all kinds of documents that I don't think are relevant yet (e.g.
medical certificates, police checks etc.) What's the point of having a
checklist if some of it doesn't apply?

Anyway, can anyone advise if we should send the following to
Mississauga for sponsorship application?

-Pictures of our wedding etc. as proof of marriage (or will Quebec ask
for this?)
-Copy of marriage certificate
-Application for PR (or do we wait for CSQ approval first?)
-PR fee (or wait for CSQ?)
-A letter of intent to return to Quebec (or will Quebec ask for this?)
-Police check (or after CSQ?)
-Medical cert (or after CSQ?)

Many thanks!

Richard
