Hi Mav,

As a permanent resident they probably won't ask you much about your
family or about funds. They main concern is the length of time spent
outside the country, and whether (in March 2008) you are returning to
reside in Canada.

I would highly recommend thoroughly researching the required documents
to sponsor, so that you can have all your wife's documents and signed
forms with you when you return. There is no specific length of time
that you need to wait -but you will need to prove a certain level of
settlement in Canada.
