Parental benefits Posted on: Thu, 8 May 2008 19:15:48 +0000 (UTC)

Hi,

I tried to find information on the Service Canada web site, but I'm
stil confused...

This is our situation. My wife is pregnant and she is due in October.
I am currently working (since 2005), but my company is closing in
August, so all the employees are going to be laid-off. Starting
September 2-nd I am going to be a full-time student for 1 year.

I will have more than 600 hours (much much more), so I am eligible for
Parental benefits. So let's just say that the baby is going to be
delivered on October 1st. Can I start collecting Parental benefits
from that day? I am asking this because at that time I will not be
working and I am going to be a full-time student.

Thanks in advance
