I am landed immigrant back in 2005 and got married in 2006 and now
want to Sponsor my wife and daughter who are back in home country. I
have some questions on application forms which i have listed here. Any
help and answer would be appreciated.
1) I haven't informed CIC about my marriage. Will it affect my
sponsorship process since I am letting CIC know through the
application process?
Since you married after your landing there was no need to inform the
immigration officials.
2) On IMM5540 - Sponsor Questionnaire form Question # 8 “Have you
resided in countries other than Canada?” – I have resided in my home
country and USA. How far do I have to go in listing the address to
this question? I have forgotten some of my old apartments in USA, so
can I only list the address that I know correctly or need to mention
all the address I have lived in USA?
You have to make a best effort to supply all of the addresses to the extent
possible. Get a copy of the guide from the CICs website and most of your
questions will be answered there.
3) On IMM5481 – Sponsor Evaluation form Question # 3 “Your Net
personal income” – I have started working from Aug. 2008 so what do I
write for net personal income of 12 month period? I have not worked
before in Canada so what do I mention for my net income? I have
written 12 month period starting as Aug 2008, what should I write for
ending date?
Supply your explanation in a cover ing letter. You do not have a 12 months
history to report so simply state that.
4) Do we have to notarize the photocopy of Permanent Resident card?
Again read the guide on the CICs website. You can download it and print it
out.
5) On IMM5491 – Document Checklist – It says need an original “Option
C Printout”. I haven’t filed my taxes in Canada as I have just started
working from Aug 2008. What should I do with this supporting document?
Explain your situation in a covering letter or addendum..
Do I have to write letter to CIC saying I don’t have one yet? Will it
affect my sponsorship application?
6) What should be minimum bank balance I have to present for a family
of three as part of supporting documents for this sponsorship
application? I am planning to show around 9000 CAD. Will this amount
be ok? My monthly salary is above 4000 so I think this income is
sufficient for sponsoring my family. I am planning to send letter from
my employer and bank balance as part of my supporting documents for
income.
It will be OK.
7) On IMM0008 Application for PR form, my wife has mentioned
occupation of my daughter as “Infant Child”, Total numbers of years on
Education as 0, Cannot communicate in English or French, Passport
Details as N/A as my daughter is just few months old. Is those answers
ok?
SHe should get a passport for the child now.
8) On IMM0008 Schedule 1 Background/ Declaration form Question # 11
Personal History – It says give details for last 10 years. Because of
my wife’s schooling goes beyond that 10 year period, should she give
dates for more than 10 year period or make it within the 10 year
period? She was thinking of entering her whole schooling period which
will make the personal history more than 10 year.
Fill out the form as instructed.
9) On IMM5406E Additional Family information form – Section A – Under
Spouse or Common Law Partner, should she write my name? Of course she has
to enter you in that form.
Date under that section applies only if we sign?
She signs to all sections that apply. So she does NOT sign under the
secition for children since she has one. If she has brothers and/or sisters
she enters them in the appropriate section and signs only on the the bottom
of the form.
Again - get the guide and follow it.
