She knew and meant what she said and, if allowed a seat on the Supreme
Court much less keep any seat in any court, is harbinger of just what a
'new' role for judge is, according to her, to be.
She lectured Berkeley law students that she, being a wise Latina woman,
should be expected to reach "better conclusions" than a white male and not
even in regard to law rather, as she went on to explain, apply "appropriate
prejudices."
She even stated, "as the Supreme Court [doesn't rule but, according to her]
suggests."
If,a prosecuting "Latina woman" versus a "white man" had said what she did
to a jury, Sotomayor, as judge would have to more than just reprimand the
"Latina woman" and lecture the jury to, even if possible, ignore the
obvious bias.
Sotomayor has lectured. In Berkeley her statements support the bias and,
just as she did also lecture the students, even lecture the jury that there
are, somehow, such things as "appropriate (and even binding) predjudices."
Two days ago she was asked point blank if she was a racist.
She refused to answer having already been introduced by Harry Reid as,
somehow, being an "underdog."
This of course is intolerable. |
