US Born to H1-B Parents Posted on: Wed, 14 Apr 2004 13:23:17 EDT

I've read through RichW's Dual Citizenship FAQ.

We are on H1-B working in the US. We will have our first child here (by
accident). We understand that this will give her US citizenship based on
the 14th Amendment.

We are both Canadian citizens and wish to also maintain that citizenship
for our child as we will be returning there within a few years.

Is that an automatic step? Are there hoops to jump through to facilitate
that in Ottawa? Is there a FAQ covering that question?

Thank you in advance.
