Your chance of success is probably low, because of lack of ties to your home
country. Since you have applied for immigration to Canada, the U.S. will
assume that you do not intend to return to your home country. And you most
likely have not established enough ties to Canada to overcome the intent
problem, either. Usually, a person would have to obtain Canada PR status
and establish ties for perhaps a year or so before being successful in
getting a U.S. visa like J-1, for which temporary intent is needed.
I suggest you consult with the J-1 specialist at the university that issued
your DS 2019.
