Hello,
I entered the US as a minor (11 yrs old) in the year 1997. My dad was
on an H-1 Visa which he did not renew when it expired in 2000. Up
until 2003, I lived in the US illegally with my family. Then I left to
study in Canada (on a valid visa and study permit, that expires in
2007) when I was still a minor (17 yrs old).
My family (mom, dad, younger sister) is still in the US and it has
been an year since I have seen them, even though they are only across
the border. My family is trying to just move to Canada (legally...)
and apply for PR here and just settle. But that may take a while, and
I really do want to visit them. I was wondering...
a) Are there any chances of me getting a Visitor Visa to the US,
considering that I lived there illegally for 3 years, though as a
minor. (I turned the age of 18, here, in Canada...it has been 1 year
since I left the US)
b) Also considering that my parents still reside there? (Though so
does my grandmother who is a legal greencard holder and my father's
sister and brother-in-law, who are both US citizens) - I could be
going to visit them, if immigration officers ask?
For those who want to ignore my question or just want to know why my
dad didn't renew the US visa (he could have, and would have easily
gotten it) is because that very year he didn't want to stay in the US
(bored? he is a traveller) and had applied for a Canadian visa that
year...he didn't think that it would get rejected, and it did. He just
never got the time to apply for a US visa after that...and time just
passed us by.
Thanks for any help on this issue...
