My parents entered as DV-2004 one month ago. They got their plastic GC
exactly two weeks later. One week after their entering the U.S. we went
to SSA office -- they were already in the SAVE system -- got their SSNs
8 days later. That's all. :)

You can leave the U.S. pretty much immediately, if you are planning to
return in a short period of time. :)
