Subject: H1B about to expire, 365 days out of the country regulations Posted on: Tue, 2 Nov 2004 21:51:21 +0000 (UTC)

Hello Everyone,

My H1B 6th year in the US is about to run out. I've relocated to
Canada as a Landed Immigrant about 2 months ago and currently live in
Canada. What I was wondering is whether I can enter US on any other
visa category(e.g. B1/B2).
I know that there is a 365 day duration during which you cannot enter
US after H1B 6th year runs out. Does this rule apply to H1 status
only? Being a Canadian permanent resident, can't I go to US to visit
my brother or attend a conference?

Thank you much for any constructive feedback!
