US Naturalization (Residency Requirements) Posted on: Sun, 14 Nov 2004 03:52:36 +0000 (UTC)

I am eligible for US Naturalization in October 2005 and can apply for
the same in July 2005 (90 days earlier). However, I will be taking a 1
year overseas assignment with my US company, from February 2005
onwards.

I have a query, and would appreciate if folks with some experience on
this could provide me their perspective.

>> Do I physically need to be in the US when I apply for
Naturalization, or when my application is being processed. (I have no
problem visiting the US for a week or so to submit the application,
for fingerprinting or for interview etc.)

The residency criteria on USCIS website is to have spent at-least 30
months in the US in the last 5 years (I far exceed that criteria)

Thank you
