Subject: Family Based Preferences Issue Question Posted on: Mon, 06 Dec 2004 13:42:12 CST

I am married to a Russian lady with a Green Card. This past week we sent in
the papers for her citizenship. In August of 2002 we sent in the papers to
bring her adult daughter to the States. I have noticed the family based
preference dates for adult sons and daughters of citizens is losing ground.
At one time it took approximately 1.5 years from the filing date. However,
from what I can see the dates have slipped and now it takes approximately 4
years. Further, in the last 10 months the preference date has moved only one
month. At the present slippage it appears the First Family Preference for
Adult Sons and Daughters of US Citizens will take at least 10 to 20 years.
Can anyone tell me what is going on at the BCIS?
