Subject: eligibility for Social Security Card Posted on: Sat, 25 Dec 2004 02:53:39 +0000

When a company applied for I-129 petition for alien worker. His case is
pending now and he just received the NOA which is I-797c. Can he go to
the local Social security administration and apply for a social security
number. Does he have to wait till his I-129 approved before he goes and
gets a Social security card.
In a case where he can't get one does the company apply for ITIN number
for him till he is eligible for one?

thank u
