There is nothing that can be put into a UK citizen's passport to prevent
them from being denied entry in a worst-case scenario. The only thing
that someone can have to prevent a denial is a valid US passport that is
lawfully issued to the bearer.
He should have evidence that he has a home, job, life, bills, and
responsibilities in the UK that he has no intention of abandoning. If
you have similar evidence that you plan to return to the UK that will
help as well. If he can prove to the officer that he is a bona fide
visitor for pleasure who plans to return, then he will be admitted as
long as there are no other inadmissibility problems.
